Hand Washing Clothes

Useful items:-

  • Silicone sink stopper

  • Travel clothes line, or some wireframe hangers, and don't forget some pegs

  • Dry laundry soap sheets

  • Stain remover


Routine:-

  • Sort by colours and wash separately, wash delicate items on their own

  • Wash the sink out before using (bleach cleaners used by the maids can stain or discolour)

  • Fill sink with warm water (not hot), and add detergent

  • Wash only a two or three items at a time

  • Swirl, swish and knead for about 2 minutes

  • Rinse out the sink, and repeat for the next items

  • Rinse clothes in clean water (rinse, drain, rinse, as needed)

  • Wring or gently squeeze out the remaining water

  • Role in a thick towel before hanging or laying flat to dry


Air drying is the best, but can take longer in humid environments

You can also use the hotel room hair dryer on small items

Best to leave delicate, expensive, and 'dry clean only' items at home.
